Transition FAQs

We've put together answers to some Frequently Asked Questions around our transition out of Causewayside. If your question is not answered by our FAQs then please get in touch.

Where are you moving to?

The Bike Station is proud to announce that we will be moving to a new space at 141 Lauriston Place, Edinburgh, EH3 9JN, marking an exciting new chapter for our work in sustainable, inclusive, community-driven cycling. While we are deeply saddened to see Cargo Bike Movement wind up, as custodians of their vision and mission we will continue to promote how Cargo bikes are an essential part of the future of sustainable transport, offering practical, low-carbon solutions for individuals, families, and businesses.

When will the new branch open?

We are currently in a transition process and our team is hard at work preparing our new space at 141 Lauriston Place.

Details on opening hours as well as what our community work will look like in the new space will be shared with our audiences soon. Make sure to follow us on social media and regularly check this page for updates.

What will The Bike Station becoming custodian’s of The Cargo Bike Movements Mission and Vision look like?

Subject to funding, The Cargo Bike Movement will be integrated into The Bike Station’s exciting community projects like the Wee Bike Library, Shifting Gears and Kids Bike Life.

How does the transition affect Wee Bike Library?

From week commencing 10 March 2025 Wee Bike LIbrary bikes can only be collected from our Gorgie and Perth branches.

If you have a bike due to be returned to Causewayside, you can return it to that branch by the 8th of March 2025. Any bike being returned after the 8th of March 2025 will have to be returned to Gorgie or Perth.

All available bikes are listed on the Wee Bike Library inventory.

What will happen with donations now that Causewayside is closed/When can I donate to your new branch?

Our Causewayside is now closed and all donations should be taken to our Gorgie and Perth branches.

We are not currently accepting donations at our new space. Any updates or changes to this will be shared on this page and our social media.

Why is the Cargo Bike Movement winding up?

After extensive work, the Cargo Bike Movement board recognised that the funding landscape for charities in Scotland in 25/26 will be even more challenging than years previously. The winding up process will begin after the Paths for All grant concludes at the end of March 2025..
