Vacancy for three Bicycle Refurbishing Mechanics, Edinburgh

Are you looking for a new challenge? We are looking for experienced bicycle mechanics to join our growing team in Edinburgh.

Full Time 35 hours per week. Two of the posts will have one-year contracts and one will have a six-month contract. Competitive rates of pay.

The posts will be at The Bike Station Edinburgh, 250 Causewayside, EH9 1UU.

Now the largest recycler of bikes in the UK with 25 employees and a turnover of £750,000 our aim is a future where everyone has the opportunity to cycling and its benefits, and access to the support, advice and skills they need to keep their bike safely on the road. We refurbish donated bikes, sell them at affordable prices and use the proceeds to overcome barriers to cycling in Scotland.

The post:
The candidate should possess proven skill and experience as a mechanic, along with great communication skills. We have worked hard to build a strong reputation as a friendly, talented and reliable workshop, and these values need to be upheld and built upon. The ability to work as part of a team, and adapt to a changing work load is essential.
The main activity will be producing finished refurbished bikes to a high standard on a daily basis, with a target of three bikes a day, whilst maintaining a safe and clean working environment.

As the sale of refurbished bikes is the core business activity so its important that production targets are met. Flexibility is also needed as there can be a variety of mechanic duties to undertake, including warehouse storage, repairs, Dr Bike and other outside events. Some Saturday work will be required.


  • Ideally you will have at least two years professional experience as a bike mechanic
  • A recognized qualification in bike maintenance and assembly is desirable but not essential
  • Driving Licence desirable but not essential
  • Basic IT skills
