Velotech training is now under way. The way we run it has changed and outlined is our new way of delivering in line with all other Velotech training centres. To book onto a course please follow the link at the bottom of the page which will then guide you through available dates


Velotech Bronze (Foundation Plus)

This two day training course requires a basic knowledge of bikes and components.

Cost: £300

Duration: 2 days

Time: 9:30 am – 4:30pm (on both days)

The course will include: 

  • Workshop practices, Health and Safety, British Standards and Pre-Delivery Inspection documents.
  • Assessing and adjusting a bicycle.
  • Assessing and basic procedures around wheels, tyres and inner tubes.
  • Gear adjustment
  • Brake adjustment
  • Bearing adjustment
  • Using a torque wrench

There is a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the course as part of the accreditation process.

Velotech Silver (Intermediate 1)

This two day requires you to have successfully completed the Bronze (Foundation Plus) award.

Cost: £300

Duration: 2 days

Time: 9:30 am – 4:30pm (on both days)

The course will include: 

  • Replacing cables for brakes and gears
  • Replacing brake pads and correctly setting the brake.
  • Replacing a chain and cassette
  • Indexing gears
  • Replacing headset and bottom brackets

At the end of the course, there is a multiple-choice question paper and practical assessment as part of the accreditation process.

Velotech Gold (Intermediate 2)

This two day training course requires you to have successfully completed the Silver (Intermediate 1) award.

Cost: £300

Duration: 2 days

Time: 9:30 am – 4:30pm (on both days)

The course will include: 

  • Fault finding and troubleshooting.
  • Replacing a broken spoke and truing a wheel
  • Replacing and compatibility of components on a bicycle.
  • Bleeding a Shimano hydraulic brake
  • Strip, service, maintain or replacing hubs, headset and bottom brackets

At the end of the course, there is a multiple-choice question paper and practical assessment as part of the accreditation process.

The Velotech Awards maintenance courses are accredited courses recognised by the Bicycle Association

The successful participants receive the Gold, Silver or Bronze Award, a recognised professional mechanics qualification.
